ISO certification cost in India has two parts — the consultant’s fee for building your system and the accredited certification body’s fee for auditing it. Neither has a fixed price: both depend on your scope, number of processes and departments, product complexity, whether design is included, team size and sites. The certificate is valid for three years, with surveillance audits in between, so plan for the full three-year cost.
The two parts of ISO certification cost
| Â | Consultant’s fee | Certification body’s fee |
|---|---|---|
| Who you pay | Your ISO consultant (for example Greendot) | The accredited certification body that audits you |
| What it covers | Gap analysis, documents, training, implementation support, internal audit, audit support | Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits, the certificate, yearly surveillance audits |
| What drives it | Scope, processes, complexity, team, departments, sites, current system | Audit days (based on employees and complexity), sites, travel |
| When you pay | During the project, as agreed | As per the body’s terms for each audit |
What decides the consultant's fee
- Scope of certification — which products, processes and locations are covered
- Number of processes and departments — production, purchase, stores, maintenance, quality, sales, HR…
- Product and process complexity — a chemical plant with batch records differs from a trading unit
- Design and development — included in scope or not (clause 8.3)
- Team size — more people means more training and more records
- Sites and shifts — multi-site or 24×7 plants need more visits
- Your starting point — a working system needs less effort than starting from zero
- Number of standards — ISO 9001 alone, or with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 as an integrated system

What decides the certification body's fee
Accredited certification bodies calculate audit time mainly from the number of employees and the complexity of your operations, using international accreditation rules. More audit days, more sites and longer travel mean a higher fee. Greendot works with any accredited certification body you choose; we have no tie-ups, so you can compare quotes freely.
Plan for the full three-year cost
| Year | Audit by the certification body |
|---|---|
| Year 1 | Initial certification: Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits |
| Year 2 | First surveillance audit |
| Year 3 | Second surveillance audit |
| Year 4 | Recertification audit (new three-year cycle) |
Internal costs people forget
- Staff time for training, meetings and internal audits
- Calibration of measuring instruments
- Small fixes the gap analysis reveals (labelling, storage, records)
- Management time for the management review
ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 — or all three together?
ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 — or all three together?
Each standard adds its own requirements: ISO 14001 adds environmental aspects and legal compliance, ISO 45001 adds hazard identification and worker participation. Implemented together as one integrated management system, they share documents, training, internal audits and certification audits — which usually costs less than three separate projects.

Beware of very cheap 'online' ISO certificates
Some websites sell ISO certificates for a few thousand rupees without any real audit. These are often issued by bodies that are not accredited, and serious buyers, OEMs and export customers reject them. Before you pay, check that the certification body is accredited by NABCB or another accreditation body that is a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), and that certificates can be verified online (for example on IAF CertSearch).

Frequently asked questions
Q: Is there a fixed price for ISO 9001 certification?
No. Both the consultant’s fee and the certification body’s fee depend on your scope, processes, product complexity, team size, departments and sites. An exact quote comes after a short gap check.
Q: Is GST charged on ISO consultancy?
Yes. GST applies to consultancy and certification services in India; your quote will show it separately.
Q: Is there a government subsidy for ISO certification?
Some central and state MSME schemes have reimbursed part of certification costs in the past. Schemes change, so ask your District Industries Centre (DIC) which scheme is open today.
Q: How long is an ISO certificate valid?
Three years, with surveillance audits by the certification body in years one and two and a recertification audit in year three.
Q: Does getting ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 together cost less?
Usually yes compared with three separate projects, because documents, internal audits and certification audits are combined.
